Early report about “Internet”

When Dean guest blogged for me awhile back, he introduced a “humor” category and shared a few movies, so I figured I would do the same!

Remember the sound of a modem connecting over a phone line? Remember when the existence of “emoticons” was actually worthy of a news headline? Check out this blast from the past, I suspect from the early 1990s, from a television station in Toronto, Canada!

Wow have we ever seen a lot of changes on the Internet in a short amount of time! Via Linda Uhrenholt.

Hey! Where I live in central Illinois we don’t just “remember” the sound of the modem connecting over the phone line…..Lots of folks in my area are still using dial up! Rural areas are rough that way!

Good point Brenda… I am certainly showing my lack of perspective on rural dialup. Thanks for pointing this out. I know some satellite-based high speed Internet options like WildBlue are continuing to mature, but there are still plenty of folks who remain on dialup by necessity rather than choice.
