"What makes a Great Online Presentation?" is really interesting topic.I am following up this para "...Remember these are not live sessions but rather presentations in a variety of formats intended to be used in a variety of ways by a variety of users. That's challenging to say the least. I applaud anyone who tackles such a task."

I think it is important to mention to presentation <em>viewers</em> how MUCH goes into preparing an online presentation. "<em>Only</em>" 20 minutes might easily take a presenter hours and hours to create. (Have you ever looked for a particular image you had in mind for hours? :) As you and Mathew point out there is not only the content to consider but also the presentation style. While viewers might be focusing on content, the design and the delivery can be equally important. Once you become a presentation producer (no just a consumer), you probably never look at another presentation the same way. How was it put together? What programs were used? Active/passive voice? Images, audio, video? Transitions? Audio level? Visuals? Examples? Creative Commons? Photoshop?Script?Branding? Background music?
Thank you for including my presentation. :)

Thank you for your recommendations (and for including my presentation among them). I must say I am far behind in viewing the 2009 presentations but I saw each and every one of the 2008 K12 Conference and wrote about my favorites: http://creatinglifelonglearners.com/?p=401 (for week one) and http://creatinglifelonglearners.com/?p=406 (for week two). I believe we have similar tastes and appreciate your looking at the conference from a presentation perspective instead of just for content.

I, like you, am enjoying the diversity that is being showcased at the K12 Online Conference in presentation styles.....and I truly appreciate that there has not become a "standard" for how to present. Just as in the classroom setting, we are showing our strengths, our weaknesses, our creativity, our organization, etc etc etc.
David Warlick's conversation in the first K12OC still amazes me because he took us where we had not gone before -- it was not a talking head....it was a conversation. And in a way, he set the bar for the next time.
And I agree, Mark Wagner's presentation was very well done too. Conversational not a speech.
And also, Silvia Rosenthal Tolisano's, this year was wonderful and I learned a great deal. On a silly side note though -- I really WANT to know how she did the world map....my google earth does NOT look like that.....or does it, and I don't know.
To add to your list: I truly enjoyed "A Peek for a Week" by Rachel Boyd -- http://k12onlineconference.org/?p=553 -- and "Little Kids - Big Possibilities" by Kelly Hines -- http://k12onlineconference.org/?p=440 --
What I continue to hope -- in future K12 OC -- is to continually see some sessions that just make us go "WOW, I wish I could do that" but also appreciate the fact that if K12 OC does nothing else -- it salutes our differences in teaching styles and does not rubber stamp any as "THIS IS THE WAY TO DO IT RIGHT". Just as in a regular school -- we all have different teaching styles and if we try to be someone else, we might be limiting our own influence.
However, on the other hand, grins, if I had seen Silvia's or Joyce's (http://k12onlineconference.org/?p=443) or Chris Betcher's (http://k12onlineconference.org/?p=463) first -- I might have done my own a bit differently. Ahhh, well, there will always be next year.....
Nice post, Dean ---
now off to watch some I have not seen yet because of your recommendation.
