Thanks Alan for some good critique. I've taken your advice but rather than cropping every shot the same, I've cropped and scaled her face depending on the intensity of the sequence. Not that it's not all pretty intense but I've tried to vary the close up in order to build emotion. Good idea.

I use a Sony ECM-HW1R Wireless Mic. I've been very please with the results other than the fact it's much more obvious that the Azden lavalier mic.

More kudos for taking on a delicate topics, and as others say, I appreciate you sharing your technique.

I might have tried to get more tight framing on the shot of her talking on the couch with the red wall- there was a lot of empty space above her head, and she was right at about a half way level in the frame... It would have worked (maybe the room did not allow getting closer) to maybe crop her face, leaving the blank space on the left for effect (Cropping seems a very under-used effect; most shoot with aiming to get a complete head in frame).

The music is great: I was going to add Jamendo to my 50 Ways media list and found it was already there- now I have to remember to use it. I have fun finding odd tracks in http://ccmixter.org which is way way original (and often weird).

What bluetooth mic do you have? I've had both good and mixed luck with my Azden wireless ones.

But again, wow, it is moving, and you've done a very respectful videography job.

Dean, I appreciate you sharing the process. The end product is moving, but I enjoy see the how-to as well.

Dean,
Thanking for sharing this video. I think you did an excellent job of capturing the emotion in a very delicate way. Your subject's story is truly sad but her message is clear. The music is haunting and beautiful. I had such a strong emotional connection to her and her family.

Dean, you've told a powerful story. Her words and your shots will not only make people open their wallets but remind women to get checked.
