I really enjoyed reading about all the different areas of a school division that need to come together to make technology work in the classroom. One of my biggest concerns when I go into a school is whether I will have the staff support to try the things we are learning in class. I have mainly thought just about the work I would need to do with other teachers in my school, the school administration and the student's parents. I never thought about the tech people at the division office I would have to rely on as well. Your school division sounds very enlightened and open minded, a good place to work.

Well said, Dean. It's neat to see when you put the pieces together, as you have, that we really are doing some great things here. I think teamwork is essential - which you've captured pretty well. We're all focused on our students' best interests - from our teachers up to the board. I'm feeling more and more, that despite our geography, a sense of community is really taking hold. That is something to be proud of.

I'd agree - we still have alot of work ahead of us, but to see the positives really helps keep us on the path, even when we'd like to run off it!!

No-Just wish I had more positive things to say that's all. I realize crying and criticizing will get me no where. But I can celebrate a couple of things, like my blog and blog platform is not blocked, and I have a login/password to bypass the filter. That is not true everywhere. So I am luckier than most. But we all know the grass seems greener on the other side.

Cathy,

As I said, we don't have it all together and what I often do is write in generalities about failures rather than find specific fault because those faults are seen in many other places.

I certainly wouldn't write a post singling out my workplaces' faults. I'm not sure that accomplishes anything other than what you've suggested.

Seriously WHERE DO I APPLY? If I blogged about where my school district or state falls down, I'd probably lose my job. Coveting your points here.

You're right, Dean, we are fortunate to work in the school division that we do. I am constantly being made aware, through the contact I have with other teachers both on and off line, that not everyone has the support that I do. I am also very cognizant of the fact that I would not have been able to do any of the interesting things that intrigue and inspire my students without our division's, leadership's and in particular your support.
