I remember going to small schools like you describe growing up in rural South Australia. Now I know that Clarence Fisher is an exceptional educator but I think that there are "small school" factors that help to contribute to his students' success. They include small class sizes, multi year level classes that require individualised curriculum delivery and an isolated location that almost forces reaching out to the wider world. Interestingly, here our State Government has announced the closure of a number of small metropolitan schools to be replaced by six "super schools" - it sort flies in the face of the new equation, Small School = Innovation.
