Dean: I'd love to join in with you for one of these sessions via Skype, iChat AV, or even a videoconference-- I'm not sure what you're using, but I've had good luck with XMeeting on a Mac doing a regular H.323 videoconference. Just let me know if you want to plan this, or catch me on IM! I'll send you my addresses. :-)

My problem is that sometimes I'm hesitant to keep sharing this stuff with others for fear they've heard it before. Will, you've been at it for a lot longer and on a lot larger scope and the fact you're saying only 1% have heard it is a bit shocking. When I asked these 70 principals how many had heard of wikipedia, I'd say 15 had. About the same for myspace. But likely only 3 or 4 max really have a grasp of what these are.

A good reminder to me of how far we have to go.

Will, after we found the sound system control the audio was great.

Thanks for having me in, Dean. Hope the audio wasn't too awful!

This is all about context. This issue still is, and will be for some time, that most people don't yet know there is a conversation taking place, and if they do, they don't grasp the significance or scope of it. Heck, I'm not sure any of us fully get it, yet. But when you get in here and start kicking the tires, it's hard not to get at least a little bit tweaked by what's happening if you are open to it. I'd guess less than 1% of educators have heard any of us in this community present or speak on this stuff. And it's optimistic to think that more than another 5 percent has found the way here on their own. And finally, we need to broaden this whole conversation anyway and reach out beyond our own into the world non-educators.
